One thing many people look forward to during the working week are the lunch breaks. This is that time of the day when food just hits differently. If you are not bringing food from home, you will most likely put-in with the rest of your colleagues for lunch.

If you’re on a budget, the market is the go-to joint for easy yet mouth-watering meals. Here are my top 3 things to get from the market:

1. Nama and Lumi

A go-to when it comes to quick and easy yet filling meals. Have this with a side of cassava, lemon, and chilli, and you’ll find yourself in Lala Land in minutes.

2. Pasela (Food Parcel)

Worth every cent! (only $6!) Some parcels have fried fish; some have sausages and eggs with cassava and salad on the side. If you’re lucky, you might also get a free glass of juice!

3. Qalu

Dessert is a must after chowing down on a good meal. and whenever visiting the market, it is a must to grab some Qalu, which is cassava or dalo made into a pudding and smothered with coconut mik and sugar mixed into a sauce.
