A taxi driver is in hospital after he was assaulted and robbed in Valelevu while a woman is in hospital after she was injured during a home invasion in Rakiraki.

Police say the taxi driver had picked one of the suspects at the junction of Qarase Road, Nadera who asked to be dropped off in Nabua.

They say along the way near Valelevu, the suspect asked the driver to stop and when he did, he assaulted the driver.

Police say another man came from the side of the road, pulled the driver out of the car and stole his phone before fleeing the scene.

The victim is currently admitted at the CWM Hospital.

In another incident this morning, two men entered the home of a 68-year-old woman in Mullau, Rakiraki and stole cash and assorted items which included tools and a vacuum cleaner.

The woman sustained injuries and was conveyed to the Rakiraki Hospital where she is being treated.

Police say investigations continue to arrest those involved.
