Silina Baselala is following in the footsteps of her siblings, both of whom play rugby for the Fijian Drua men’s and women’s teams, and she’s quickly making a name for herself in the sport.

Baselala’s remarkable performance on the field earned her the Breakthrough Player award in the U20 division at the FMF Suva Women’s Rugby Awards held last night in Suva.

As a student at Adi Cakobau School, Baselala dedicated her achievement to her family, crediting them for their steadfast support from the moment she decided to pursue rugby.

“This award belongs to my family because they have always supported me,” she expressed.

“Rugby started as a hobby for me, but it has grown into a potential career path. I aim to continue improving and hope to one day play rugby overseas.”

The awards ceremony, hosted at the HFC Bank National Stadium concourse, gathered players, their families, and supporters for a night of celebration.
