Grog/ Kava:
Kava, also known as yaqona or sakau, is a traditional beverage made from the roots of the kava plant (Piper methysticum). It has cultural and social significance in many Pacific Island nations, including Fiji. Kava has been consumed for centuries in rituals, ceremonies, and social gatherings.
In Fiji, kava is prepared by grinding or pounding the roots of the kava plant and then mixing the resulting kava powder with water. The mixture is strained, and the liquid is consumed. The active compounds in kava, called kavalactones, have sedative and anxiolytic (anxiety-reducing) properties, leading to a relaxing and calming effect when consumed.
