Some students of Veiuto Primary School had to be counselled after they were seriously affected following an incident at school last Friday where two games, Charlie Charlie and Red Door Yellow Door were being played.
We have been informed by some concerned parents that there are allegations of some students acting like they were possessed.
The students had to be sent home early.
We have asked the Minister for Education on the steps taken from last Friday and whether all affected students and teachers are being provided with counselling sessions.
Fijivillage has gathered that there are a few TikTok users from abroad that teach people on how to play the games.
That seems to be the source for the young children nowadays but this game has been around for a while now
The Charlie Charlie challenge is a divination game in which the putative answer to a yes–no question is found by waiting for a balanced pencil to point towards the word “Yes” or “No” written on a sheet of paper.
As with a Magic 8-Ball, most players, typically teenagers, do not sincerely believe the power of the mechanism.
The game is a modern incarnation of an older Spanish game called Juego de la Lapicera (“the Pencil Game”).
It was popularized in the English-speaking world in 2015, partly through the hashtag #CharlieCharlieChallenge
