Imagine getting paid to cry and weep out LOUD at a funeral service. Crazy? Weird? Maybe, maybe not.

There is a weird job called “Professional Mourner”. A professional mourner is known as a moirologist. They are paid to attend a funeral, to well, mourn.  Even though they don’t know the deceased person, they still express sorrow and often take part in funeral customs.

It is a tradition in South East Asia that a loud funeral will assist the dead as they travel to the afterlife, so professional mourners are hired to cry and weep loudly throughout the service.

Now, how interesting is that! Can you imagine having this in Fiji??
