According to an audio recording played in court, Johnny Depp made an angry promise to Amber Heard in a San Francisco hotel room in 2016, telling her, “You will not see my eyes again.” Her ex-husband, according to Heard, kept his word.

“He won’t look at you, right?” Depp attorney Camille Vasquez asked the actress at the start of cross-examination. “He can’t,” Heard answered.

“You know exactly why Mr. Depp won’t look at you. He promised you he would never see your eyes again, is that true?” Amber Heard replied “I don’t recall that.”

Vasquez then played an audio recording of Heard and Depp’s final meeting, which took place in a hotel in San Francisco in the summer of 2016, after she filed for divorce and obtained a restraining order against him.

Heard attempted to hug Depp, but he refused. “Please I just want to hug you and say bye,” she said tearfully. Depp declined.

“I am nothing to you, and I will always be nothing to you,” Depp said. “You will not see my eyes again.”
