History was created yesterday at the Vodafone Arena when the Suva Women’s and Suva Men’s teams were crowned the champions of the 2023 Extra Supermarket Futsal IDC.
The Suva Women’s team won both their first two games but lost their last game to Tailevu Naitasiri with 2 points to 3.
Suva played their first game against Rewa at the Fiji Football Academy turf on Friday night with a close win. The second game against Nasinu, with an own goal from the corner kick by yours truly 😇😉.
The Suva men’s team came out as the champions for the men’s division after beating Nadi 6-2 in the final at the Vodafone Arena yesterday afternoon as well.
NGL, to be included in the men’s tournament is a big thing for us women because we don’t really get the same exposure as the men to have more women playing futsal.
Well now that we do, we’re looking forward to having more teams to be included in the Futsal Interdistrict Championship next year, and HOPEFULLY, they have the games together like this year again so there’s more exposure for women in futsal.
