In order to pursue a dual undergraduate degree in computer science and criminal justice, Dennis Barnes, a senior at International High School (IHSNO) in New Orleans, Louisiana, applied to 200 colleges and universities throughout the US.

Amazingly, he received no less than 125 offers from colleges and universities after completing the applications last August, leaving his inbox “overflowing” with them.

Even better, those contained scholarship offers for a combined $9 million, demonstrating the colleges’ desperation to enrol Barnes.

A high school student in Lafayette, Louisiana, who got $8.7 million in scholarships back in 2019, held the previous Guinness Book of World Records record for the most scholarship offers received. Barnes’ number of offers surpasses that mark.

The school also stated that Barnes is fluent in Spanish, holds leadership positions in the National Honor Society, and was given the Jose Luis Baos Award for Excellence in Spanish by the Honorary Consul of Spain in New Orleans. Barnes’ 4.98 cumulative grade point average really puts the rest of us to shame, doesn’t it?
