Lizzo is being sued by three of her former dancers for allegedly fostering a toxic work environment as well as sexual and racial harassment.
The singer, whose real name is Melissa Jefferson, her production business, Big Grrrl Big Touring, Inc., and the leader of Lizzo’s dance squad, Shirlene Quigley, are all named in the complaint, which was submitted to Los Angeles County Superior Court on Tuesday morning.
In it, the dancers claimed that Lizzo pushed them to touch nude performers at an Amsterdam club and subjected them to weight shaming.
In their complaint, the dancers stated that visitors could engage with nudist performers at a club named Bananenbar.
Lizzo started asking the cast members to take turns touching the naked performers, catching toys thrown from the performers’ genitalia, and eating bananas sticking out of the performers’ genitalia.
Additional claims made in the lawsuit include unjust incarceration and interfering with potential financial gain. But not every claim is applicable to every defendant.
A request for comment from Lizzo’s representative has not yet received a response. A request for comment from Quigley was not immediately complied with. Big Grrrl Big Touring, Inc., Lizzo’s production business, could not be reached for comment.
