In her native Tatarstan, a 53-year-old Russian woman caused a stir when she married a 22-year-old man she had nurtured for the previous eight years.

Renata Ibragimov’s niece Aisylu Chizhevskaya-Mingalim, a well-known musician in Tatarstan, was embroiled in a major scandal after it was reported that she had wed her adoptive son. Aisylu met Daniil, a 13-year-old kid, who shared her passion for music eight years ago while working as a music teacher in Kazan’s orphanages. After a few classes, the two started performing as a duo.

The boy also sang alongside well-known Russian musician Filip Kirkorov and took part in a number of reality talent competitions, including the “You’re Super!” initiative.

In actuality, Chizhevskaya-Mingalim’s marriage to her 22-year-old foster son caused controversy in the Republic of Tatarstan, with some denouncing it as a “disgrace” to the nation. The singer’s five other foster children were taken by the authorities, who were so incensed by the relationship that they put them in orphanages all across Kazan. Since then, she has been trying to go see them in the hopes of winning them back.

Aisylu Chizhevskaya-Mingalim clarified that she chose to get married in order to put an end to the long-running allegations about her relationship with Daniil. The 53-year-old woman countered that their union is not quite what it seems. Although many believed their marriage to be physical, it was actually entirely spiritual in nature.

Nonetheless, this unorthodox relationship has sparked controversy and even has a few ridiculing the couple.
