A McDonald’s restaurant that only opened a week ago has already gone viral on social media because of its unusual location – in rural Quebec, Canada, surrounded by farmland.
McDonald’s is one of the world’s most recognizable brands, and one of the ways it built this reputation was by opening restaurants in busy areas that all but guaranteed a certain number of potential customers. However, a newly opened location has been drawing a lot of attention. The new McDonald’s restaurant located at 8075 Avenue Marcel-Villeneuve in Saint-François is surrounded by farmland and is not even connected to the power grid, instead functioning on a generator.

The tiktoker’s short clip shows the isolated McDonald’s has been viewed tens of thousands of times and sparked several conspiracy theories and rumours online. Some believe that McDonald’s agreed to sell its franchise there because it knows something everybody else doesn’t – the surrounding land is about to be sold to developers, and the whole area is about to be full of new houses. Basically, McDonald’s got in early, before the price of land blew up.
It’s unclear if any of these theories are true, as McDonald’s Canada has yet to comment on the unusual location of this restaurant.
