The singer will be portrayed by Jaafar Jackson, the brother of Michael Jackson named Jermaine, in the Antoine Fuqua-directed biopic.

Jaafar Jackson, a 26-year-old nephew of Michael Jackson, will portray the singer in the Antoine Fuqua-directed biopic titled “Michael.”

On Monday, Lionsgate said that Jackson has been cast in the movie, which is being made by Graham King, the Oscar-winning producer of “Bohemian Rhapsody.” Jackson is the second-youngest child born to Michael’s older brother Jermaine Jackson.

Jackson also has his own music; he debuted in 2019 with the song “Got Me Singing.” His acting career will begin with the biopic “Michael.”

King stated in a statement, “I met Jaafar more than two years ago and was blown away by how he organically personifies Michael’s spirit and personality. Even after a thorough investigation of the entire planet, it was evident that he was the only one qualified to fill this post.

Fuqua also shared a black-and-white image of Jackson as the lead character on Instagram to share the news.

I’m humbled and honoured to bring my Uncle Michael’s tale to life, Jackson wrote in a tweet that accompanied the photo. I look forward to seeing all of my supporters soon.

The mother of Michael Jackson, Katherine Jackson, also expressed her thoughts about the casting.

Jaafar is my son personified. It’s so fantastic to see him continue the Jackson family’s tradition of entertainers and performers, she said in her letter.

King and John Branca and John McClain, the co-executors of the Michael Jackson estate, will produce “Michael.” John Logan, a writer, wrote the script. King and Logan previously collaborated on Martin Scorsese’s film “The Aviator.”

Similar to this, “MJ The Musical” was a hit on Broadway, earning millions of dollars and earning actor Myles Frost the Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical in 2022. Through 2023, the musical will continue to tour.

The 2014 documentary “Michael Jackson’s Journey from Motown to Off the Wall” was the first full-length film made about the late pop icon before “Michael” was created.

Michael will start shooting this year. A precise release date has not yet been declared.
