It was about a week ago… I was over at my friend’s place for dinner
That’s when I did something I realized I’ve never done before in all my 10 years hanging out at my friend’s place… I actually had a nice long talanoa with my friend’s Mom
That’s when I discovered how cool my friend’s mom was
She was part of the women’s basketball team that won Gold at the 1987 SPG in New Caledonia
She went on to talk about how difficult it was since they had to raise their trip expenses during a very hard time in Fiji
1987 was the year of Fiji’s first coup…
My friend’s mom would like to remain anonymous and I guess that’s what kind of makes her so cool
Her humble demeanour sets her apart from most women
