One Direction fans gather to pay tribute to Liam Payne, in Mexico City

Liam Payne tragically passed away on October 16, 2024, at the age of 31 after falling from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He had been in the country to attend a concert by his former One Direction bandmate Niall Horan.

An investigation is currently ongoing to determine the exact circumstances of his death. His family expressed heartbreak, describing him as kind, funny, and brave.

Fans worldwide have been organizing vigils to pay tribute to Payne, including in his hometown of Wolverhampton, where a large gathering occurred.

About nine people. mostly women, stand at the foot of a statue. The base has a paper sign that says "Liam Payne" with pictures and heart shaped balloons placed around the base, candles, flowers and other tributes have been placed on the ground next to it.

 

Another vigil is planned today in Birmingham’s Chamberlain Square. Fans are encouraged to bring candles and flowers. Similar memorials are being held in cities across the UK.
