England have suffered a historic 22-30 loss to Fiji for the first time in their history they have been beaten by them.

It was a World Cup warm-up game filled with superb, off-the-cuff scores from Fiji, with winger Selestino Ravutaumada and out-haf Caleb Muntz playing starring roles.

England lead 8-3 at half-time, but tries from Waisea Nayacalevu and Vinaya Habosi, along with a Muntz’ conversion and a penalty, gave the away side a 20-8 lead after 57 minutes.

The introduction of Marcus Smith elevated England’s attack and himself and Joe Marchant bagged tries to get England within one, before a late score from Simione Kuruvoli saw Fiji home.

The loss is a new low point for England under head coach Steve Borthwick who took over from Eddie Jones prior to the Six Nations this year.

Other awful showings include a 10-53 loss to France, and last weekend’s drab defeat to Ireland.
