Fiji Day means many things to many people, honestly, the right answer is that there is no right answer.

The older generation like our grandparents will remember it as a day filled with celebration as we left British rule to stand on our own two feet. When we think about it the day must have been a dream for many, who had only known the crown as our sovereign.

As for the younger generation, Fiji Day is a holiday where we wear Kalavatas and go on picnics. This is a day when Fiji is a sea of Blue and a wall of flags, a time when families can gather to talanoa and reset.

54 years later with our fair trials and tribulations, we still celebrate our diverse, multicultural nation. For Fijians, this day is an opportunity to reflect on the values of unity, peace, and progress.

As a country, we continue to evolve, but Fiji Day remains a cornerstone of national pride and reflection, encouraging all Fijians to honour our past while looking forward to the future.

FIJI THE WAY THE WORLD SHOULD BE.

Happy Birthday Viti
