The 2024 Paris Paralympic Games have officially begun, with Pacific athletes joining thousands of others from around the globe in a parade down the iconic Champs-Elysées to Place de la Concorde during this morning’s opening ceremony. This Paralympic Games will feature the largest contingent of Pacific athletes in history. Thirteen athletes from six Pacific nations—Fiji, Kiribati, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Tonga, and Vanuatu—will compete in Taekwondo and Athletics (Discus, Javelin, and Shot Put).
