This is the one time that Fiji goes hard out for another country in the sport of rugby and to this day, I don’t know why.
I’ve seen friends and couples fight, argue, and bicker when it’s State of Origin season and it’s so fun to watch, I’m not gonna lie.
For some reason, I’ve never seen a friend group or even a couple that supported the same team. It’s always one is Blues and the other is Maroons. There’s no in-between.
The team listing for both teams have been sent out and people have already started changing their profile pictures, their cover photos, and they’ve even started with the toxic posting and banter online.
It’s also very important to remember that when it comes to the State of Origin banter, don’t take anything personally. If you’re gonna be a sore loser about it, then just go offline and ignore everyone and everything after the games.
There’s also no reason to become violent and hit below the belt.
I feel like there are a couple of unspoken rules when it comes to State of Origin banter and that most people just miss the bus on that because they take the banter seriously.
Let’s just be clear that at the end of the season, we’re all still going to be friends and family. This is the only time in the year that we’re given a hall pass to make fun of each other’s sports teams.
