“India’s goal : Reduce the total projected carbon emissions by one billion metric tons from now through to 2030. Reducing the carbon intensity of its economy by at least 45 percent by 2030 compared to 2005 levels. Achieve the target of net zero by 2070…”
VAAAAAAAAAROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM VAAAROOOOOOOOOOOOOM VAAAAAAAAAAAAROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!
India wants to promote low carbon transport…and mahn wouldn’t it be cool if could have them too!
So India is bringing in electric buses to nearly 170 cities…it’s aiming for a national fleet of 50,000 electric buses and has just announced a scheme to deploy 10,000 over the next decade. In 169 cities across the country, the $7 billion plan also includes charging ports and infrastructure.
Promoting low-carbon transport, reducing fuel imports and promoting industrial opportunities for building electric vehicles are some of India’s goals.
A 100 fleet of electric buses has already been launched in the City of Delhi, electrifying all of Delhi’s fleet would reduce bus emissions by 75%, a study showed.
What’s more, India has the world’s largest fleet of two and three-wheelers.
What are your thoughts?? Do we need electric buses in our city and towns??
