I’ve always heard about kids telling their parents they’d run away after an argument, but they hardly ever follow through with that threat.
This is probably the only time I’ve ever heard about a kid telling their parents that he was running away and then actually running away!
A young boy was taken to the police station after passers-by noticed that he was exhausted and tired while sitting in a tunnel that was under one of China’s busiest highways.
Let’s start from the beginning, shall we?
So this boy had an argument with his mother and told her that he was going to pedal all the way to his grandmother’s house. His mother never believed him as his grandmother lived a bit over 130km away from them.
Little did his mother know, he was dead serious!
He packed some bread and water in his bag for sustenance and went on his merry way.
He pedalled for 22 hours day and night without stopping and navigated China’s busy roads, intersections, and highways until his legs just couldn’t pedal anymore.
That’s when he got off his bike to rest.
There were people that noticed him and decided to call the police. The police came and asked the boy some questions. You can imagine their shock when he told them where he came from, where he was going, and how he was trying to get there.
The boy was so tired that he had to be carried from the police car to the police station.
His mother and grandmother both came to pick him up from the station and the mother said,
“When he threatened to ride his bike all the way to his grandmother’s house, I thought he was just throwing a childhood tantrum.”
