Tis the season for festivities and gatherings with family and friends is finally upon us. This also means that organizations will be giving back to their employees by throwing them a party as a token of their appreciation after a successful year and with festivities as such comes its fair share of drama. We can all still enjoy the fun at our work Christmas parties but here are just some do’s and don’ts on how you can have a great time and still keep your job the next day.
DON’T:
- Get drunk at the party – Use the party as a place to prime. Have a few drinks, chit chat then leave and be disorderly elsewhere.
- Settle beef or talk about work – Obviously when ‘liquid courage” hits you start having the audacity to confront Meresimani about not approving your bereavement leave to go to your Nau’s funeral. Take it this way if you can’t talk about it sober don’t bring it up drunk
- Get comfortable with “work wife/husband – If you aren’t already dating in your organization please don’t think that the work Christmas party is a good place to hook up kerekere. Don’t become the next topic of your workplace gossip.
DO:
- Bring your partner – If your organization has a +1 policy then bring your partner. At most Christmas parties they have awards, so it’s only right that they be there to support you.
- Stay professional – Yes it’s a party but remember that this is still a work event. You don’t want to walk up the next morning after the party and not have a job lol.
- Leave before 11pm – Doing this will guarantee you don’t overindulge in the alcohol and knock out before going out into the REAL party.
Keep these pointers in mind and I promise you’ll have the best time yet at your work Christmas party. TAKI SARA!
