Thoughts about this have definitely crossed our minds at least once every time we have visitors over at our house, right?
Well, if you said yes, then you’re not alone!
It’s always nice to have visitors over, right? Spice up the air, maybe some quick catch-ups with the crew, and it may start or end with a few bags of grog. However, we should never mix pleasure with priorities. If you’re ever wondering, “How can I tell my visitors that it’s time for them to go without making it sound rude?” Well, we got you!
Here are a few tips and excuses you can use next time you have visitors over and it’s getting late and you’d like for them to leave (but not in a rude way).
1. FAKE AN EMERGENCY CALL
Yep, this one comes in real handy, friend! All you have to do is pretend that you received an emergency call from your relative and that you need to go check them out asap. Your visitors will understand situations like this and want to leave too.
2. HAVE AN IMPORTANT MEETING TO ATTEND TOMORROW.
This is my all-time favourite excuse. All I would say is that I’ve got an important meeting to attend.
3. PUTTING THE KIDS TO SLEEP
This might not work if your visitors know you really well and you don’t have any kids. But nonetheless, always a card you can pull out when you really need them to leave.
4. TELL THEM IT’S GETTING LATE
If you think the above excuses won’t work, give it to them straight. They will understand and appreciate the honesty, and you can go to sleep peacefully.
