As we all know, a marriage is something that’s sacred and is meant to last long. In most marriage, they often use the husband’s surname as the newlywed’s last name…however, this story takes it to a whole other level!

A couple in Japan is said to divorce and remarry every three years in order to switch using each other’s family names.

In Japan, it is mandated by law that spouses must have a common surname, and they need to select one of their last names.

In cases where couples struggle to decide on a name, some have employed a tactic of divorcing and then remarrying at set intervals to switch names back and forth.

Can you imagine if this rule applied to us in Fiji? There will be a lot of divorces and remarrying happening…LOL!
