It doesn’t come as a surprise to any of us that we’re all excited about the upcoming long weekend, but I feel like it’s the fact that after so long, we get to celebrate Ratu Sukuna Day and we get to celebrate one of Fiji Greatest Sons that’s bringing out the patriotism in us.
It’s nice to see that there’s a full-on program that’s been planned out for everyone to be a part of.
Yesterday, people gathered at FNU Nasinu for celebrations. Even local celebrities joined in on the festivities to pay tribute to the forerunner of the post-independence leadership of Fiji.
Today, the Ratu Sukuna Memorial School students will be celebrating on their school grounds and will finish the day with a cultural concert.
It’s also very nice to see school students going to school in their different coloured Bula shirts as today, most schools have allowed their students to wear Bula in honour of the Ratu Sukuna celebrations happening right now.
If you’re like me and you are terrible and planning what to do for the long weekend, this long weekend will be so much easier as there’s already a program planned out for you. All you have to do is go check it out with your family and friends and make this long weekend one to remember because this one is one for the books!
