Meta introduced its new video editing app, Edits, designed for Instagram creators. Announced on Sunday, the app comes as a response to the recent U.S. TikTok ban and the removal of CapCut from app stores. Edits aims to provide creators with a suite of advanced tools to easily craft unique videos, from short Reels to longer content.
The app includes creative features like an inspiration tab, idea tracker, high-quality camera, and detailed video performance insights, including engagement metrics and skip analytics. Additionally, users can share drafts with friends and collaborators for feedback.
Instagram head Adam Mosseri highlighted that Edits is more creator-focused than casual video tools and offers AI-driven editing options. It’s currently available for pre-order on iOS, with an expected release in February 2025, followed by an Android version. Meta plans to refine the app based on creator feedback.
