Arwilda Whiteside and Cleovis have been wed for over 80 years. The 102-year-old Cleovis and the 98-year-old Arwilda were married in 1939, and they both attribute their continued success in their marriage to God.
The couple’s twelve children were present for the Pine Bluff fish fry celebration last weekend, many of them.
The Family Council of Arkansas celebrated the pair with concerts and award presentations.
According to Arkansas Family Council project supervisor Charisse Dean, the Whitesides might be the nation’s longest-married couple.
Family members remembered the pair and offered their best wishes. A lot of people claimed that the Whitesides shaped who they are now and were an integral part of their life.
The Whitesides expressed their appreciation to everyone who attended on that momentous day.
