Hi Friend, so this week’s update is very sporty. Fiji has been on the upside when it comes to our sports so the short update will have everything you didn’t know you needed. From the 7s gladiators to the swimming national records and great upsets.

It’s been a long time coming

The Fiji Airways National Men’s 7s side are currently leading the HSBC SVNS table with 36 points after the second leg of the World Rugby Sevens Series in Cape Town last weekend. Yes it’s been a long time coming, as were have been in a slump so this is a BREATH of fresh air.

Fiji thrashed Spain 47-10 to win the bronze medal this morning.

Spain is second on the points table with 32 points with Cape Town winners South Africa and France currently in third place with 30 points each.

The next stop in the circuit is the Perth 7s that will be held from the 24th to 26th of January next year.

Records were meant to be broken

Tolu Young is a household name when the sport of swimming is even being whispered. NGL, he has grown from strength to strength, especially when it comes to a sport where you have to prepare personally.

The Team Fiji swimmer broke a Fiji national record in the 50m butterfly event during the 2024 World Aquatics Swimming Championship in Budapest, Hungary, coming in with a time of 23.11 seconds.

We are the Champions!!!

The Crest Men’s Fiji Netball have been crowned WORLD CHAMPIONS!!!

Fiji defeated former world champs Australia 55-54 in the Men’s Netball Nations Series Grand Final in Singapore. This monumental achievement is first for the nation. The team were undefeated throughout the tournament but faced a setback in the pool stages where they lost to Australia 60-48.

The team arrived in Nadi yesterday and was welcomed by family members and friends together with their sponsors.

Fiji Netball says they are thankful to their sponsors for their tremendous support in helping them secure the Merlion Netball Cup.
