Starting today, Auckland’s new alcohol rules take effect. At places like bottle shops and supermarkets, alcohol can only be sold until 9pm. The change has received support from both local businesses and community groups, who believe it’s a good move for the city right now.
Bars and restaurants can serve alcohol until 4am in the city centre and until 3am outside it, if they have the right licenses. Sports clubs and RSAs can sell alcohol until 1am if they’re allowed to by the licensing authority.
