Former Marist Brothers High School student Roland Williams has advanced in The Voice Australia after winning against Jaydin Shingleton in the Battles round of the show.
Their coach, Guy Sebastian, chose the song “Lose Control” by Teddy Swims for their performance. Swims sent them a video message, saying he was “honored and excited” to see what they would do with his song.
After their performance, Sebastian decided that Roland Williams was more in his element and declared him the winner.
Williams first made a name for himself in Fiji’s music scene in 2007 as part of the band One2Eight. He later moved to New Zealand and won the singing competition “Homai Te Pakipaki” in 2009 with his version of Billy Paul’s classic hit, “Me and Mrs. Jones.”
