As the clock struck midnight on New Year’s Eve, some celebrated with grog and booze, while others welcomed the first babies of 2024.
At Yale New Haven Hospital, twins Souli Morris and Seven Morris were born three minutes apart, with Seven at 11:59 p.m. and Souli arriving at 12:02 a.m. This unique separation places their birthdays not just on different days but in different years.
A press release from the hospital stated that Souli Morris was born at 12:02 a.m. on Jan. 1, making her Yale New Haven’s first baby of the year. She was born to parents Mykel and Aliyah Kiyomi Morris of Hamden, weighing in at 6 pounds, 9 ounces.
Her brother, Seven Morris, was born at 11:59 p.m., the release stated, calling him “easily the last birth” of 2023. He was also 6 pounds, 9 ounces.
According to the release, the family is doing well and resting.
The New Haven birth was minutes before Hartford Hospital welcomed its first birth, a baby boy born to Murielle and Sterling Gatewood of Enfield at 12:06 a.m.
